G-ANTB taken in 1960, in typical summer weather. I flew to Gatwick in 1963 on this aircraft on my first spotting trip to London. This aircraft crashed in Jersey on14-4-1965 whilst attempting to land on a flight from Paris Orly. Of the 28 on board 27 were killed only the French flight attendant survived. COLIN SMITH

As well as F-BPTT  (See previous post) Air Ouest also had F-BUID and some services were also operated by F-BVVP, but I am not sure if they owned this, it may have belonged to S.A.I of St Malo.

Grumman Albatross N23ML arrived Guernsey on 15-2-1986 from Shannon on the first leg of a delivery flight. The aircraft went tech. on arrival needing a replacement engine which had to be sourced from the U.S. The first engine that arrived was found to have been stolen in the U.S. and another sourced. After the replacement engine was fitted the aircraft was registered N3JY & trial flights including water landing in the little Russel were made, It finally left on 17-8-1986 to Prestwick. Little known after that but it was reputedly shot down in South America whilst gun running.  Colin Smith
